I am currently sat in a hotel, paid for by American Airlines because I was nice. Where I should be is on a plane back to Manchester, but alas I WAS TOO NICE.

So I'm stuck in NYC for a day. I have manage to claw myself a seat on the same flight but tomorrow, so hopefully, everything will work out fine. I'm not going to be able to meet up with some good friends, but I'll see them again. Glad I didn't plan anything for the first couple of days of me arriving back home. Glad I only booked my trip for 89 days. Glad I learned from being stuck in Chicago and didn't panic. Or cry. Good Zan. Well done. Now, to make the most of it...

Last Day of My Adventure

It's been a wonderful three months, following from the other three months, in the States. I have eaten so much, seen so much, met so many people and had sooo much fun, and now I'm all packed and ready to come home.

I'm not really sure how I feel about leaving yet, and how I feel about going home, but I'm very sure that I've made the most of my time here. Now I'm going back to a very very crazy life where I have to fit in with a regimented crazy that I will have no control over. Awesome.

One full day of travel before I come home. Let's hope the hurricane hasn't screwed up my flights. Hopefully you will hear from me from the UK on Wednesday some time. Woooo!

Block Party!

The neighbourhood where I'm staying had a block party today. They closed off a section of road and got a load of tables and chairs out and hey presto - block party! I decided to help out at the block party by doing a mini Pop-Up! Here are some of the photos:

I had a lot of very awesome boxes. I found them on a walk and then asked a local Dollar Tree to donate some boxes and ta da! A Pop-Up! We made a fort, dressed up as robots, had a box fight and then we ran around the neighbourhood dressed in boxes and using cardboard tubes to battle eachother! Wooo! :)

*By the way, no sign of hurricanes where I am! Wooo!*

Natural Zan-Hindering Disasters

We all remember when I got stuck in Chicago for 3 days because of an extreme snow storm. Well, it seems like the crazy natural disasters haven't had enough of me yet.

A couple of days ago there was an unusual earthquake in Washington that affected NYC. Though it wasn't too bad, if it had gotten any worse then it would have been baaad.

Currently, I'm being thwarted by Irene, a hurricane which has decided that it would be fun to traverse the East Coast. I'm actually okay at the moment, especially cos I'm visiting friends a bit further inland, but it's going to be touch and go as to whether the weather lets up on Tuesday ready for me to fly home unhindered. We'll have to see.

It seems that being in the States means lots of these unpredictable phenomenon. I'm sure I could get used to it.

I'm safe, don't worry. I'll keep you all posted :)

Little Wishes

Wall of Hopes and Dreams in NYC.

On New Year's Day in Times Square, they release millions of small squares of tissue paper over the city as party confetti. Looking closer you will be able to see that they are little wishes, dreams and hopes for the new year. My favourite one is yellow and at the bottom left corner of my photo - "I wish I had a hamster" Big wishes for some people are little wishes for others, but they're just as important! :)

Things That Tickle Me: NYC

A huge angry bird

Fancy decorations on the subway wall

Moments in Macy's that make me feel like I'm in Harry Potter :)

Cannons on the Island

On Saturday, there was a Civil War re-enactment on Governors Island. It was very exciting, and when the cannons went off, everyone on the Island could hear it.

As a result of this, some of the kids were completely fascinated by the guns, muskets or whatever weaponry was used in the re-enactment, and they came to the Pop-Up Adventure Play site with guns ablaze. One little boy in particular was really taken with the whole scene...

*PEW PEW PEW* It was lots of fun! :)

My shopping life recently has been dedicated to buying shoes. Every time I'm near a shoe that might potentially sell an off white formal heel I'll gravitate over and cast my evil eye over the options. And guess what? I've hardly had any options at all. It did seem a bit silly given that I'm currently working in one of the best shopping cities in the world. I had a quick word with a Prom Dress shop worker the other day and it turns out that I haven't been the only person with the same problem recently. Brides have had a hard time looking for white shoes and apparently, since it's Autumn soon, white satin is getting replaced with darker hues. Which I guess is a relief that I'm not the only one having issues but it's definately a hassle all at the same time.

Luckily I'm not all at picky about the shoe as long as it's the right colour and doesn't have flowers, sequins and fake diamonds thrown at it. So I managed to get my shoes! Woo! I might buy a second pair and return the first if I find one that's better, but at least I have one at the moment which is the right colour and fit for a wedding! Wooo! :) Go me! :)

Rainy Day

Today's weather has been a constant grey and miserable colour. It didn't inspire me to do very much apart from do some laundry. And thinking about chocolate. Hmm... :)
